about

Program notes:
Home Invasion is the fourth in my ongoing collaboration with Matthew Frerck using text scores, drawing on our shared interest in the use of expanded notation in improvised music. By means of photocopying, an existing text by Peter Krumbach is transformed into a score: non-sound material to be interpreted as instructions for performance. Home Invasion is an exercise of confidence in my musical relationship with Matthew. In the same way that a story can be effectively communicated so that any variation in future recollections will not stray too far from the original theme, Home Invasion is a product of my trust in Matthew to interpret my photocopy as carefully as I chose the text.
